What a great result!
A very challenging and exciting F3A season has come to an great end yesterday evening at the flying field of MC Schiefbahn (Krefeld).
In the end of the last years season I was elected to be the pilots speaker of the DAeC (Deutscher Aero Club). Due to that I started flying pattern in the Motorkunstflugrunde of the DMFV (Deutscher Modellfliegerverband) years ago I thought of the possibility of joining both of our national German flying associations for one big pattern event in Germany. So the idea of a united German Championship between the DMFV and DAeC was born. Considering that we need a good flying field for the many pilots (56!) in all three classes (Hobby, Sport, Expert/FAI) we found that the Modellclub Schiefbahn would be the best choice for our intend.
To make long talking short – it was one of the best organized events in Germany I ever took part in. Saturday the weather was pretty good and we were able to make two rounds for all competitors. In the evening the MC Schiefbahn supported a nice banquet in the “Schwalbennest” so the whole German pattern family found time to eat, drink, talk and joke together. Sunday morning the weather turned out bad. So we had to fly in really heavy winds and needed some rainbreaks.
For me the result was the best I ever reached before. I was able to become German Vice-Champion for the first time! It’s such a great feeling when all the patience and work for this aim pays off. I want to congratulate Robin for the Championship and Andè for the third place and the victory of the DMFV Motorkunstflugrunde, well done boys!!

And again a very pleasant result for both of us!
The third episode of the F3A MASTERS in Germany is over now. It has been a great contest weekend at our home airfield in Kaltenkirchen. Unfortunately the weather showed not its best side during the weekend - it was a bit like 'north-German feel-good-weather'. Overall there were sunny moments, but rain, wind and fog got strong and came over the flying field and we were just able to fly one full round of P 17 and a 1/3rd of the second round on Saturday... The weather became better on Sunday so we could finish the second round of P 17 and fly a third round before the price giving.
Soon in the competition a group of four (Robin, Sandro, Derk and myself) made the top of the ranking. It was a nice fighting with Derk for the third place and this time I was lucky enough to make the race - so again congratulations for you all, especially Derk, Sandro and Robin; it's always an honour to fly with you!
I really want to thank the members of our club for the preparation of the field and especially Manfred Greve and all his family who managed this event so well as all the times before!
For Manfred this competition is the end of his more than 30 years of pattern competition flying. Over all the time he was one of Germany's best pattern pilots and an example for me and so many others. He tought Peer and me so much about building planes, setting them up and showed us how to fly the shedules nicely. Besides to that he did a great job in teaching me not to give up and keep fight in competition.
Fredi - see you on the field man!

A historical F3A weekend has become a great memory for us!
It was a unforgetable time at the 50th Internationalem Freundschaftsfliegen (IFF) of Liechtenstein and for Peer and me a dream came true - meeting team Japan in competition: Naruke-san (NTS Ascent mono), Akiba-san (Inagaki SuperFanta) and Takahashi-san (Inagaki Fantasista) and their families - ありがとうございました。. It was a pleasure to meet you!
And so was meeting Wolfgang Matt! In nine years of competition I have never seen a competitor being as experienced and active as him. Wolfgang, danke für deine Gelassenheit, du hast das IFF für uns familiär gemacht! Besides to Wolfgang I thank the whole Modellfluggruppe Liechtenstein (MFGL) Team for the unique weekend in Bendern, Liechtenstein.
It has been so great to fly my all Japan Yamada YS DZ 185 CDI powered NTS Hobby Ascent BIP in front of every European top pilot and to finish just beyond Naruke San as 13th! The IFF was a great competition for us Germans. Our pilots all finished very well in Liechtenstein and so did our Judge Peter Uhlig, as the past 15 years at the IFF!
I specially want to congratulate the champs again: 1st Stefan Kaiser, 2nd Lassi Nurila, 3rd Robin Trumpp, 4th Sandro Matti, 5th Wolfgang Matt, 6th Marc Rubin. See you in Untermünkheim at the EUROS! As you know Peer and I will guard you against too few points...

An outstanding result for us at the GBRCAA World Cup in the UK!
Peer placed 6th and Nils finally made the podium. The Hoylands and their team of the Great Britain Aerobatic Association (GBRCAA) organized a superb weekend for both the pilots and judges. The flying field is located close to Ashford on the Bethersden farm only a 40 minute drive from the port of Dover.
Rob Davies the owner of the flying field ownes several WWII fighter planes and allowes us aerobatic pilots to use his backyard for competition flying. The Competition started on Friday so there was enouth time for flying 4 rounds consisting of 3 rounds P-17 and one final flight of F-17 and to talk and joke with old friends.
The weather was perfect on Friday and Saturday. After the first round Nils placed seconed after Derk but with the rounds Matt became stronger. So the final result after the final Flight in heavy winds was Matt 1st., Derk 2nd., Nils 3rd. The weather on Sunday was not that good as the days before so we were not able due to rainbreaks and dust to fly a second Final flight.

Congrats to Matt (1st.) and Derk (2nd.) and a big thank to the whole family Hoyland!
